"I can't say enough good things about this campground! This was our 4th or 5th time staying with them and we have had excellent service every time. Not only are the front office staff friendly, but so are the maintenance folks. We had an issue with our water this time, and David came to our camper to see if he could help.

We will be back in the Spring of 2017 and hope to bring our 5-year old grandson, who will love playing on the new playground equipment. We never bring a car and use the public bus to get to Colonial Williamsburg. The newly remodeled bath house is wonderful and kept clean all the time. The sites are a little close but with the trees and other landscaping, it is very cozy.”

"We stayed in October so we could be close to the theme parks. The campground is very well maintained and the community bathrooms are the newest and nicest we've ever seen. The store is well kept and the young lady that runs it is extremely helpful and courteous. They have a basketball court and playground for smaller kids and is the closest RV campground we could find to Busch Gardens. The only concern (which was brought to our attention) was the railroad line that runs along the side of the property. However, after the first time we heard it, it really wasn't a big deal. Definitely worth the costs and we plan on coming again. If it wasn't for the train we would have given it a 5 star rating by the way.”

"I have visited this wonderful campground many times in my travels. My wife and I are fulltimers, cross crossing the country. Each time we come back to Williamsburg, VA, we book our stay at this charming place. What is so impressive is the constant improvements that we see each time we return. The campground was surely a jewel when we first came to the park and now the owners have dedicated hard work and time to make this jewel shine even brighter. We love the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the park, easy access for a 40 foot motorhome, easy transportation to all the major events in town, and the feeling that you are being cared for by the owners. The park is quiet, restrooms immaculate, great roads, graveled sites, great power, wifi, and so much more. I cannot speak enough about this wonderful park in such a historic area.”

"Just to let you know we so enjoyed camping this weekend at Anvil! We found it to be very homey, clean, friendly and convenient to our home in Mechanicsville! It was the first time we had ever camped just with our 2 little grandsons ages 3 and 4 and the two of us without their parents with them. They had a blast too. It was nice to meet your wife and precious son at the playground with the big pile of sand which my little grandsons called “SNOW Mountain” on Sunday morning. We look forward to returning next season!  

Your staff at the front desk could not have been any nicer or more pleasant! That is worth it’s weight in gold!

Thanks for a wonderful weekend! Sorry we will not be able to make it to the Fish Fry this weekend.

"We like to travel in our motorhome without towing, so we depend upon local transportation options. We came here for a three night stay to see Colonial Williamsburg and family living members living nearby. My brother gave us a tour on the first afternoon of our visit and gave us advise before we got started. We opted to ride the WATA bus in order to get to Colonial Williamsburg the both days. The ride to the transportation center took about 15 minutes, as did the return trip... The campground was kept quite neat..and sites are well defined. Electric, water, cable & sewer hookups are top notch & easy. The site we were in was pebbled…There are numerous playground areas. The bath house has... private showers which are very clean and quite nice as campgrounds go...My nephew uses Uber to get to/from work. He swears by Uber in this area. Taxi cabs are available also. I hope this review was helpful.”

"This was the perfect spot while visiting Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg. The campground is exceptionally clean and well kept and the staff was really courteous and helpful. It was our first time in the area and they explained the best way to utilize our time there and even provided discount tickets to the various places that we were going to visit. Although the sites were pretty close together, they did their best to leave some trees in order to still give us that camping experience that we love.”

"We stayed there for a week and loved it! The staff was super friendly! Amazing customer service! You can tell they take pride in their customer service and it shows! The train was there but we never heard it when in our camper. It is very close and after reading the reviews we were worried, but never had an issue. It was actually quiet! Our site has a fire ring and we were making S'mores when a police officer was doing a routine traffic stop. We offered her water and she sat and had a s'mores with us. My children loved talking with the police officer. The location is great because everything we wanted to see was close in every direction. We went to Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, Mariners Museum (WOW) even Nauticus wasn't too far away. Tons of shopping and restaurants were very close. Some within walking distance! The sites in the campground were beautiful!... Overall a great stay. We would definitely go back and Stay at Anvil.”

"What a delightful place. We spent three nights here and loved it. The campground is centrally located to all of the attractions and even includes a shuttle for those that do not wish to drive. The staff were over the top friendly and helpful. On check in they gave us a TON of information and before one of our sightseeing excursions they helped us with all of the planning. The park was clean, the sites were laid out nicely, and all of the hook-ups were convenient. Although we normally request a pull thru site, our back in site was more than adequate for our 36' Class A. Except for the heat (over which the campground has no control) we really enjoyed staying here and would definitely return."

"Stayed here over Labor Day weekend in a fifth wheel. Campground is small but has an awesome location close to everything including public transportation. Grounds and bathrooms were immaculate. Cannot say enough about how nice and accommodating staff was. Campground was full but very family friendly and quiet. Great spot for a base at night while taking in sights during the day.”

"My family and I came in late and Brandyn made sure we were all set before arriving. We met Chris, the owner the next day and he was very hospitable. "We reserved online and only didn't know much about campground until we showed up. Smaller then expected, we tent camp and there was only 11 tent sites. The sites were smaller then I expected. Train is right next to ten sites and they do run all through night and during the day at all times, but with those few negative I mentioned I still give this camp ground 5 stars because there isn't a camp ground cleaner and seriously the customer service we received from every single employee was the best I've seen. First night there we wanted to leave bc of train but we st as yet for 6 bc of all the positives and some point you forget about the trains.”

"I am so glad we found this little campground. We stayed for a week and enjoyed so many things about it. It's very clean; bathrooms are newly remodeled and nice. There's a small pool and game room. Campsites are close together, pretty level, and very quaint with trees and new gravel. The trains are loud, but they didn't bother us since we have our roof air on at night. I like the trains, though. Staff is super nice and accommodating, and the location is ideal.”

"we were on the road in a motorhome for approx. 3 months, and this was by far the best campground we stayed in, neat level shady sites, very clean office and laundry, did not use public facilities so cannot comment, we have a dog and there was plenty of room to walk her with barrels to deposit your little plastic bag. staff very friendly and helpful, gave us a lot of brochures and maps to local sites. had a great time and would stay again if in the area.”

"We took the grandkids to Water Country. We needed a shuttle service as I didn't want to tow my toad. Bus stop right by the entrance. Cost 5 dollars for all five of us to and from the park. Had a great spot under the trees. Very comfortable with the grandkids riding bikes and scooters around the park. Pool was small but did the job, 98 degrees. Absolutely no issues for our 3 day stay. The train never bothered us going by. Very friendly staff. Would definitely stay again. We were in a 30' Motorhome. Easy access in and out. Shopping centres close by also along with numerous places to eat.”
