Loved
our stay.....: Went to anvil on August 24th and 25th 2009. Campground
was very clean. Management was super nice and always helpful. Bathrooms very
clean, good hot showers. Pool was always clean and also fenced. Playground for kids very nice with fence also. Store was
well stocked with almost everything a camper needs. Local police rode through
campground on regular basis. Good lighting at night. Now for
the train. The train track is about 20 feet behind the tent camping.
Trains come through day and night. There were 6 of us camping and 3 were little
kids. nobody ever woke up with fan going. and yes tent camping had electric and water hookups. Some
people said no fence between you and train on reviews. There is no fence but
there is a line of trees, thick weeds, briars and poison ivy.(Had
no desire to walk that way and neither did kids) Had small children with us and
never had problem at all. Most of the trains went buy so fast you barely
noticed but a few were longer (like 30 seconds). Nothing to worry about if your wanting camping with good rates clean facilities and
good management. Local attractions and food very close. We will use again when
we go back for sure.

This was my first time coming to Williamsburg, Virginia.
There were many things that made this campground nice. For starters I would
like to tell you about the experience I had with one of the office clerks. Her
name is Leann. She was working by herself in the office and very busy at the
moment. That did not stop her from providing everyone with excellent customer
service. She had 3 people there to check in and she took quality time with
everyone to make sure that they were happy and explained everything to them.
She was really helpful and very friendly. Second many people complain about the
train. My husband and I didn't have any problems with it. This campground is
very clean and the maintenance men are always working if anyone needs help. The
last thing that I would like to mention is that this campground offers
discounted tickets to Bush Gardens, Water Country, Williamsburg, Jamestown, and
one other place. It was a great experience and if I ever come back to
Williamsburg again I would definitely stay there. I would highly recommend this
place. Keep up the good work! We camped here in a Motorhome.

"Dear Manager of Anvil Campground,
We would like to thank you, and your staff for being so
nice. Our stay was very pleasant.
Mr. Tom Pickral, one of the
grounds men was so pleasant, and he seem to love
animals, which meant a lot to us because we have a little dog. We have been to
Florida, North Carolina, and Tennessee, and our little dog has never really
relaxed in a camp ground, but she was at home in your camp ground when we first
got there. I guess dogs can sense things we can't.
Anyway, wanted to thank Mr. Pickral for keeping everything so nice."
Thank You,

This was our first time staying at Anvil Campground. We had
a wonderful experience and would love to come back again. The young lady
working the front desk in the office was very knowledgeable, friendly, and
helpful. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Yes, it is older, but to me the condition is more
important and the condition of this park is being constantly updated.
Maintenance was always checking things, bringing things up to snuff (during my
stay peeling paint was redone in a bathroom stall). The sites were pretty
level, hookups worked fine and sites are wide enough for slides and awnings.
And yes, CSX trains come through regularly right next door, but so what. It's
quiet otherwise. And best of all, they have a bus to all the area sightseeing.
For a buck and a half all day pass, you can go all over the area. I camped here
three days in a Motorhome We
